Gable anchors

1890-1920

Anchors enclosed in particularly exposed brickwork can be subject to damp (from driving rain) and hence corrosion. This is especially true of gables that were not originally exposed.

Corroded anchors must be replaced, which typically entails a major intervention into both the storey partition and brickwork. These days, corroded anchors are replaced with new galvanised ones.
