1940-1960



A shortage of iron in the construction industry during and immediately after the Second World War resulted in a return to traditional methods of closing window cavities and to the use of reinforced concrete beams.

The latter method became the norm in future building work and gradually led to the use of reinforced concrete beams in prefabricated elements.
