Longitudinal partitions
1850-1890
Until the end of the 1800s, interior walls/partitions in residential buildings are predominantly constructed of brick-lined timber frames.
Longitudinal walls/partitions support the beams in the storey partitions. Continuous beams account for the larger part of the storey partition’s weight.
