Chimneys and partitions
1850-1890
The chimney is a standard component of early buildings with interior timbered walls. Chimneys are usually placed at wall junctions, and the timberwork in the joists as well as the walls is kept at a distance of one brick away from the inside of the chimney, due to the risk of fire.
